Precast Protection Units
SLP's Submat division specialises in the design and manufacture of impact resistant concrete covers. A standard semi-circular tunnel shaped unit has been specifically developed to provide protection against one-off or multiple strikes.
The concrete covers can be designed to standard SLP's Submat division specifications or can be modified to meet the needs of the client.
The shape of the covers is designed to attract the least hydrodynamic loads and to reduce scour. However, additional scour prevention systems (e.g. fronds) can easily be incorporated where necessary.
Covers can be stacked for economical use of deck space and the sizes can be changed to facilitate road transportation. Where larger units prohibit logistical movements, covers can be manufactured at a load out quay.
Submat covers have been designed to accept up to 800 kj 'due to dropped' objects and 45 kj 'due to trawl boards'.
